Patchwork - Workshops

Patchwork workshops were weekly in-person sessions, held alternatively at the V&A and Fine Cell Work’s Hub in Battersea. In collaboration with apprentices from the ‘Open The Gate’ Programme, we explored decorative tile techniques that related to the Patchwork Artist Talk from earlier in each given week. Over the course of 4 sessions, we worked with a range of techniques and processes including slip, coloured clay, cyanotype printing and plaster tool-making, using each artist’s practice as a reference point.

The culmination of these 4 sessions is a mosaic of tiles, each completely unique and beautiful. A selection of tiles (as decided by each individual apprentice) will be part of the V&A Residency Display from December 2025 - November 2026.

The biggest thank you goes to all the apprentices who took part and shared their creativity.
