Patchwork - Artist Talks
2025
Patchwork was a collaborative project, combining artist talks and in-person workshops.
It looked at different ways of collaborating and participation, with craft acting as a catalyst for connection. It was developed during my residency at the V&A, and we partnered with Fine Cell Work throughout this project.
I invited 4 artists/makers whom I admire to be involved in Patchwork:
Oren Shoesmith - https://www.orenshoesmith.co.uk/
Hannah Sabapathy - https://www.instagram.com/studioplica/?hl=en
Tyreis Holder - https://www.instagram.com/_tyreis_/?hl=en
Joanne Dawson - https://joannedawson.co.uk/
I chose these people because of thematic overlaps within our practices, but who each approach this theme very differently from their own understandings and experiences. The online talks enabled a weekly space for learning and listening, as each artist shared their practices.
The evolving dialogue between us then went on to inspire a weekly in-person workshop, with apprentices from Fine Cell Work. You can read more about these workshops in the next project. Each artist also contributed work towards a shared display, which is exhibited in V&A Gallery 143, from July - December 2025.
All talks from artists have been recorded and can be accessed by emailing: residencyprogramme@vam.ac.uk
Thank you so much to Oren, Hannah, Tyreis and Joanne for being part of this project.
Thank you as well to Jessica Insley, for the curatorial help and support.
