Masterclass - Collaborative Ceramic Furniture

A weekend Masterclass workshop held at Govanhill Baths Ceramics; funded through Goldsmiths Foundation, which allowed ceramic studio members to attend the masterclass for a small cost. I facilitated and taught how to build large-scale and functional ceramic objects through collaborative practice.

The weekend began with a short artist talk, before everyone formed 3x groups of 3. After a demonstration, everyone delved into slab-building techniques, to create a series of stools from within each group.

The second day included a Nerikomi demonstration, with everyone making their own individual pattern block using coloured clay. Everyone then used their patterns to collaboratively decorate their stools. Once fired, the finished stools will live in Govanhill Baths Community Garden.
